AS-Schneider

AS-Schneider, the trade name of Armaturenfabrik Franz Schneider GmbH + Co. KG, manufactures process instrumentation and piping products for industrial plants. The range covers needle valves, ball valves, manifolds, double block and bleed (DBB) valves, monoflanges, prefabricated assemblies such as hook-ups, and instrumentation accessories. The business is family owned and headquartered in Germany, and states that it employs approximately 400 people and sells through subsidiaries and partners in more than 20 countries.

Instrumentation valves and manifolds

The instrumentation line is organized into several product families:

All valves and manifolds are available to ISO 15848-1 and to the TA-Luft option under the 2021 amendment, the German regulation that sets binding leakage limits for fittings in emission-relevant service.

Taurus Series double block and bleed valves

The Taurus Series is a twin ball design double block and bleed piping ball valve, supplied as full bore by default and available in reduced bore. Primary and secondary isolation valves are ball type with floating ball or trunnion ball design, and the bleed valve can be an integral needle type with screwed or flanged bonnet, or a flanged ball valve, VariAS-Block or monoflange.

Hydrogen service

The company reports more than 20 years of hydrogen project work and states that its valves, manifolds and Taurus Series piping ball valves can be specified for service with up to 100% hydrogen. The same products cover natural gas systems carrying a hydrogen blend, for example 20%, which the company notes is of interest to gas network operators converting existing pipelines. For hydrogen media it recommends 316 or 316L austenitic stainless steel (1.4401 / 1.4404), with operating limits of -40 C to +538 C.

In-house leakage and tightness testing has been assessed by the Materials Testing Institute in Stuttgart, and the company describes its standard as exceeding the applicable industry requirements. It also sits on the standardization committee developing DIN EN 18191, which it describes as the first European standard for hydrogen fittings.

Valves for large-bore diesel engines

A separate line supplies industrial valves for large-bore diesel engines, such as those used in ship engines and in power generation. That range covers indicator valves, safety valves, fuel valves and valves for turbocharger cleaning equipment.

Digital services

The Digital Valve Plate is a free service that opens technical documentation for a specific valve or manifold, reached by scanning its IEC 61406 QR code or entering the serial number. VDI 2770 compliant data packages supply the same manufacturer information in structured form for plant documentation.

The Digital Valve Kit extends that static record into a dynamic digital twin, giving plant operators remote access and control of installed valves, maintenance requests and an indication of current valve health.
