FW Murphy Production Controls

FW Murphy Production Controls designs and manufactures instrumentation and control products for the oil and gas production and natural gas compression markets. The range covers custom compressor control panels, engine management, ignition and emission systems, along with pressure and temperature devices, liquid (oil and water) level controls, vibration sensors and valves. The company states it brings 85 years of experience to the industry, tracing back to founder Frank W. Murphy and to first products built on a kitchen table in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.

The business has been part of Dover Corporation since December 2023, when Dover completed its acquisition of FW Murphy Production Controls from Genisys Controls. Products reach buyers through a network of US master distributors and international dealers.

Custom control panels

Panel work runs from simple start/stop operation to automation systems incorporating microcontrollers and remote communications, and the company states it can design a project from concept to completion. Panels are UL and CSA listed industrial control panels for both ordinary and hazardous locations.

Engine controls and emissions compliance

The Engine Integrated Control System (EICS) has been on the market for more than a decade and is built around emissions compliance, engine performance and reduced downtime. The system is now offered for large horsepower engines, so older engines can be retrofitted to newer standards. Air-fuel ratio (AFR) control is a component of the EICS package and is also sold as a standalone product.

Other engine control products include IntelliSpark, ignition coils, the 601 CD ignition system, thermocouples, magnetic pickups and the LM300, LM500, L150 and EL150 series.

Compressor and scrubber controls

Compressor control components are built to meet various area classifications and for use in hazardous areas, providing monitoring and protection on natural gas and other compression applications. Series include SDB, LR500, LR857, PC88, PC48 and the CV range.

Scrubber controls handle liquids and fluids in the treating of gas, including the Scrubber Level System (SLS) kit, the LS200 and MLS series, DVU and DF units, and the LC and LG level controls. Cooler controls and BMD valves cover the remainder of the process side of the catalog.

Centurion controllers and M-LINK IoT

The Centurion controller monitors applications and responds to changing conditions with the aim of avoiding unnecessary downtime and shutdowns, with the C5 as the latest iteration. M-LINK, introduced in 2020, is the IoT gateway that ties connected FW Murphy devices together for real-time monitoring, remote setting changes, program uploads and over-the-air updates across a fleet.

M-LINK connectivity includes:

• Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Ethernet for local data viewing and configuration
• A built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and all internal antennas
