Imperative Chemical Partners

Hempstead, TX Production Chemicals

Oilfield and pipeline chemical services for E&P and midstream operators, covering specialty chemistry, acidizing and well intervention, ISO 17025 accredited labs and chemical wholesale.

Imperative Chemical Partners provides oilfield and pipeline chemical services to exploration and production and midstream operators in North America. The company describes itself as the largest privately held oilfield chemical services company on the continent, and states that its technical services team is deployable across more than 30 operating locations. Capabilities span specialty chemical programs, laboratory analysis, acidizing, well intervention and chemical wholesale, backed by in-house manufacturing, blending and research and development. Chemistries are formulated for what the company describes as the Lower 48's most prolific basins, and the team has completed nine strategic business integrations.

Specialty chemicals

Production chemistry is organized around asset integrity, flow assurance, and phase separation. Asset integrity work covers corrosion mitigation, including high temperature and high pressure applications, mercaptan removal, and gas treatment for hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide removal. Hydrogen sulfide scavengers are reacted in-house and include MEA and MMA triazine along with non-triazine, non-amine and non-formaldehyde options. Bacteria control uses EPA-registered biocides with LuminUltra ATP and serial dilution monitoring.

Flow assurance and production products include:

  • Scale and halite inhibitors
  • Paraffin inhibitors, solvents and dispersants
  • Asphaltene dissolvers and dispersants
  • Low dose kinetic hydrate inhibitors and anti-agglomerates
  • Antifoulants for pipelines, compressors and oil systems
  • Emulsion breakers, reverse emulsion breakers and defoamers
  • Water clarifiers and foamers

Improved oil recovery runs through a proprietary program the company calls OPTIS, described as delivering customized chemical solutions. The company states it has boosted performance in 84 percent of offset wells and 92 percent of pads.

Midstream and pipeline work

Midstream programs cover gathering systems, compression facilities and long-haul transmission pipelines, with subject matter experts assigned exclusively to midstream applications. The company reports treating more than 50,000 miles of pipeline under asset integrity and flow assurance programs, and states that all personnel servicing midstream customers hold Operator Qualified (OQ) certifications. The midstream product line includes:

  • Corrosion inhibitors
  • Pipeline cleaning products
  • EPA-registered biocides
  • Solids control products
  • Hydrotesting chemistry

Total Systems Analysis is the company's diagnostic approach, evaluating pipeline integrity, flow assurance, compression, storage and treatment across a network. Chemical programs also address produced water treatment, reuse and disposal.

Well intervention and acidizing

Acidizing and remedial pressure pumping are run with in-house resources, including on-the-fly blending, multi-compartment acid and chemical transports, and data vans providing real-time treatment monitoring. Acid systems include gelled and cross-linked HCl, carbon dioxide foamed HCl, toluene and xylene blends, acetic acidizing systems and pressure diversion products. Hot oiling runs primarily through Central and South Texas.

Triplex and quintuplex pumping units2,000+ HP
Bulk acid storage facility50,000 gallons
Hot oiler fleet15 trucks

Laboratory network and digital platforms

The laboratory network comprises six analytical labs and two research and development centers, accredited under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 (Accreditation No. 129932). Testing covers water analysis, carbon chain distribution to C-100, corrosion coupon analysis, bacteria kill and recovery studies, and product qualification work. Instrumentation includes GC-MS and GC-FID, ICP-OES, FTIR spectrometers, ion chromatographs, Gamry linear polarization resistance and friction flow loops.

Field activity is captured through mPACT, a mobile application used by technicians and drivers that time stamps and GPS tags each logged service. That data feeds mPOWER, a customer portal for transactional records, laboratory data and failure analysis that can pass records directly into customer APIs. Manufacturing plants run stainless steel mixing vessels, liquefiers and heat rooms with dedicated tank farms and on-site QA/QC staff, and delivery runs primarily on an in-house distribution network.
